Steven's Story
While still in high school, Steven enlisted in the Army as an infantryman, leaving for Fort Benning days after graduating. He served with the 10th Mountain Division and deployed to northeastern Afghanistan for 13 months in early 2010. His interest in mountaineering was first formed in the Army during mountain warfare training and mountainous patrols in the Hindu Kush. After getting out of the Army, Steven pursued a degree in political science and began reconnecting with the outdoors as a form of therapy. Attending his first trip with Veterans Expeditions in 2016, he eventually joined them in a successful summit of Mount Logan, Canada in 2018. Steven currently lives in San Jose and works as a general manager for a manufacturing company, spending as much time as possible in the outdoors.
